April's Script of the Month, chosen by the Diversity Committee, is the half-hour dramedy jocKWEENS, written by Scott McGuirk.
His television credits include the preschool animated series Dot., Kingdom Force and Dino Ranch. Most recently, Scott has been writing on the narrative team for RuPaul’s Drag Race: The Mobile App, based on the popular reality-competition series.
“jocKWEENS is a project birthed from my own fondness of both sports and drag," says Scott. "I love the idea of those somewhat-opposite concepts co-existing within the same world...the finished [script] shows just how funny, effervescent, and dramatic a series like this could be. It’s a guaranteed touchdown, henny!“
“jocKWEENS is funny, very timely, and a fresh idea in a refreshing voice,” says veteran WGC member, Barry Julien, who worked with Scott to polish the screenplay. “But what really impressed me was Scott’s ability to cut and write loads of new jokes, ideas, and story in service of making it better, without being precious. That kind of openness and forward-looking energy is exactly what you want in a writer/creator.”
Congratulations Scott!
