September Script of the Month

Taf Diallo

September’s Script of the Month, as selected by the WGC IDEA Committee, is Touch Road, a dramedy written by Taf Diallo.

Taf Diallo is a screenwriter who has worked as a story editor for shows like The Porter (CBC & BET+) and Hudson & Rex (Citytv). He is an alumnus of Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Centre. In 2022, he was selected as part of Netflix’s Diversity of Voices Initiative at the Banff World Media Festival. Taf Diallo currently resides in Toronto and is represented by Vanguarde Artists Management.

“Every once in a while a script comes along that absolutely blows you away, and Touch Road is one of those scripts,” says WGC member Andrew De Angelis, who worked with Taf to polish the script. “Taf Diallo has written something that is truly special. I can’t wait for everyone to read it and hopefully, ideally, watch it on their TV screens.”

"I'm honoured that the pilot for Touch Road has been selected as the Script of the Month,” says Taf. “It is an intimate story about a single father struggling to raise his special-needs daughter as he leads his gang in a turf war. It is a script that is unapologetically Toronto, set in the bustling boroughs that give the city its color and character. This glo-cal piece highlights the kind of stories I'm driven to tell: intimate character dramas with socio-political undertones.”

Congratulations, Taf!
