Details on New CBC Creative Relief Fund

cbc

The CBC has established a $2-million Creative Relief Fund for the development and production of new content. For an overview of the entire fund click HERE. To be eligible to apply to any one of the three streams, you must be a Canadian creator with one television, audio or digital credit, or be partnered with an experienced existing production company. Screenwriters who have at least one produced credit can apply on their own. You do not need a production company attached.

Of particular interest to WGC members should be the Innovation Stream, which is seeking pitches for new scripted drama, comedy, kids & tweens, and youth & young adult TV projects. The info/application portals are located as follows:

Additionally, there is a Short Docs stream that might interest some of you. All relevant details/information can be found HERE.

The deadline for all applications to the fund is 11:59 p.m. ET, April 24. The CBC says it will notify successful applicants by May 8.

***WGC members who receive this funding are reminded that bibles and any and all script stages beyond the pitch must be covered by a WGC contract. Payment for stages is due on delivery. Do not deliver stages without a contract. And for members acting as their own producers, remember that you still have to issue a WGC contract for the writing of a bible or a script between your own company and yourself as the writer. Please contact the WGC Industrial Relations department, if you have questions at that point.

Good luck!
