Bargaining Update - March 7, 2024

new update

Dear members,

We have been in negotiations with the CMPA since October 2023 and recognize the need for a resolution soon. We are holding to positions that are necessary for a fair deal for all members. We are pushing to conclude this process this month.

In the month of February, we worked on drafting a comprehensive proposal to provide to the CMPA. We met with the Conciliator virtually on February 16. Based on our discussion, we implemented some changes and provided a revised proposal to the Conciliator on February 20. The Conciliator then met virtually with the CMPA on February 26 to present our proposal. We are now waiting for a response. Once we receive a response from the CMPA, we will have a better idea of next steps.

Our proposal included items that were discussed during the January conciliation dates, but had not been drafted into agreement language. The main issues that remain outstanding include AI protection and compensation.

We will provide an update as information becomes available. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Industrial Relations Department if you have questions.

In solidarity,

Your Negotiating Committee
