2026 WGC Screenwriting Awards nominations

2026 Awards nominations closed

On Monday, April 27, 2026, the Writers Guild of Canada will hold its 30th annual awards honouring excellence in screenwriting.

Nominations are now closed. 

Nominations were open from Wednesday, October 1, until Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 5 pm ET for scripts in the following categories:  

  • Children’s
  • Comedy Series
  • Drama Series
  • Documentary
  • Feature Film
  • MOW & Miniseries
  • Preschool
  • Short Series (episodes under 15 minutes)
  • Short Films (under 60 minutes)
  • Tweens & Teens

Nominations are accepted from WGC members only.

Special Award nominations for the 2026 WGC Showrunner Award and the Alex Barris Mentorship Award are also closed.

The deadline to submit nominations for all categories and special awards was Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 5 pm ET.
