WGC Member AFBS Insurance Renewal

Every March 1, members' Actra Fraternal Benefit Society (AFBS) insurance coverage is re-set, or "renewed," based on previous years' earnings. The more members work on contracts in the WGC jurisdiction, the more engagers contribute to members' insurance accounts. This helps cover the cost of AFBS Members' Insurance Program benefits. Members, you may have accumulated a balance in your insurance account, but as your earnings can change each year, your coverage also may have changed. The deadline to take advantage of options related to insurance renewal is March 31, 2017. What Happens During the Renewal Period?
Your insurance statement will be posted to your Member Profile when you login at www.afbs.ca. AFBS will also mail you a package that includes your insurance statement and other information about your insurance renewal.
 
Your insurance statement shows the benefit level that you've been renewed at for the coming benefit year, which runs from March 1 until the end of the following February. The benefits available to you vary depending on your level, and these will also appear on your insurance statement.
You might have options available to you to modify your benefit level. If you do, they will be listed on your insurance statement.
 
If you have not received your information package in the mail by March 15, please call or email the Benefits Help Desk. The deadline to take advantage of an option shown on your insurance statement is March 31, 2017.
