NEW – Membership Incentive for Reality, Factual, Magazine Programming or Game and Quiz Shows


Effective immediately the Guild is offering a limited-time incentive to writers and story editors working in reality, factual, magazine programming or game and quiz shows. Under this incentive, any Canadian resident writer or story editor with at least two contracts in any of these types of programming, signed within the past two years with a Canadian producer, may qualify for membership in the Writers Guild of Canada. During this incentive, the Guild is also waiving the initiation fee for any writer who qualifies for membership with a contract in any of these types of programming signed within the previous two years under any WGC collective agreement.

Membership Incentive for Qualified Digital Writers!

Effective January 1st, 2011, the Guild is offering a limited-time incentive to digital writers. Under this incentive, any Canadian resident writer with at least two digital contracts signed within the past two years with a Canadian producer is qualified for membership in the Writers Guild of Canada. As part of this offer, the Guild is waiving the $350 initiation fee for qualified writers. During this incentive the Guild is also waiving the initiation fee for any writer who qualifies for membership with a digital contract signed within the previous two years, under any WGC collective agreement.

There is no expiry date for this incentive.

Membership incentive for Feature Film Writers!

The Guild is offering a limited-time incentive to feature film writers.  Under this incentive, any Canadian-resident writer with at least one feature film contract signed within the last two years with a Canadian producer is eligible to join the Writers Guild of Canada.  As part of this offer, the Guild will waive the $350 initiation fee for those qualified writers.  During this incentive the Guild will also waive the initiation fee for any writer who qualifies for membership with a feature film contract signed within the previous two years, under any WGC collective agreement.

There is no expiry date for this incentive.
