The 2013 WGC Showrunner Award Goes to Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern!

The seventh annual WGC Showrunner Award was presented to Mark Elllis and Stephanie Morgenstern on April 22, 2013, at the WGC Screenwriting Awards. Mark Ellis & Stephanie Morgenstern's journey from neophyte show creators to experienced showrunners came over the course of Flashpoint's five season run. Each had spent years acting in theater, TV & film, which endeared them to their cast. But it was their process of meticulous research, and their even temperament that helped project a confident, robust creative vision that made Flashpoint that rarest of shows – one whose ratings went up over the course of its run!

Recognized with Executive Producer titles in Flashpoint’s final season, Stephanie and Mark also gave back by assembling a core of up-and-coming writers - several of whom went on to receive CSA and WGC Screenwriting Award nominations for their work. Their efforts on behalf of the TEMA Conter Memorial Trust benefits mental health services for first responders, and embodies the spirit of Flashpoint.

As Stephanie & Mark wrote recently in a letter to the Minister of Culture: "Many people assume our next logical step is to move to Los Angeles. But Canada is home, not a stepping stone, and we will continue to write homegrown stories that speak to the rest of the world."

For their talent and generosity, and for their clarity of vision and determination to deliver, the 7th annual WGC Showrunner Award goes to Mark Ellis & Stephanie Morgenstern.
