The 2012 WGC Showrunner Award

Call For Nominations

Help us celebrate our country’s best showrunners by submitting a nomination. Deadline is March 9, 2012.

Our jury is looking for a showrunner who has a big vision and a body of work that expresses it. The sixth annual WGC Showrunner Award will be presented on April 23, 2012, at the WGC Screenwriting Awards. The showrunner is a writer/producer who holds the creative vision for a television series. He or she controls all creative decisions and oversees the series from development, through prep and production, to the completion of post. In other words, the showrunner is the creative force driving the series, and it is time for our best to be brought from behind the scenes and celebrated by their peers. The ideal candidate for this award will have a significant body of work, even if he or she doesn’t have a show in production at the moment.

Some of the things the jury will be looking for are:

An impressive body of work
Great writing skills
Leadership abilities
A clear vision
Generosity and loyalty to fellow writers

To be eligible for the WGC Showrunner Award, the nominee must have been the recognized showrunner of a TV series and a member in good standing of the Writers Guild of Canada. The nominee may be an individual or a team. If you nominated a showrunner in the past and he or she were not selected that year, don't let that stop you from nominating him or her this year.
