More than 125 scripts were submitted for consideration for a 2008 Canadian Screenwriting Award. In addition to the main screenwriting category awards, the April 14th presentations included the awarding of the Jim Burt Screenwriting Prize, the Alex Barris Mentorship Award and the second annual Showrunner Award.

Gavin Crawford of This Hour has 22 Minutes once again kept everyone in stitches throughout the program. Fellow WGC member Kyle Tingley will co-wrote the awards with Gavin.
