Murdoch Mysteries:
The Curse of the Lost Pharaohs

Writer Names and Roles

Type: Webseries / Convergent

Project URL:Watch the full webseries here.

Project Summary:Constable Crabtree is writing a pulp novel based on the mysteries his colleagues solve. Step into his imagination and watch his first work, “The Curse of the Lost Pharaohs”, unfold.

About the Project:  Cal Coons was showrunner for seasons 1 and 2 of Murdoch Mysteries, and executive producer in season 4, where he also directed two episodes, wrote one, and oversaw this innovative convergent webseries. The series utilizes motion-comic animation to set the tone and to create complicated action sequences on a webseries budget. The webseries appeals to a different audience than the television show and provides opportunity for cross pollination between the two. Writer Patrick Tarr was in the television show's writing room, and was given the challenge of creating a story that interacted with the main story arc of season 4 without directly affecting it, or forcing the television episodes to mention or adapt to the webseries.

Producer: Shaftesbury Films and Smokebomb Entertainment

Broadcaster:CityTV

Season:Ties in with season 4 of “Murdoch Mysteries”; Crabtree is writing the book in the background of the TV series.
